Transcript for: “Site Visits” video. Slide 2 Florida statute requires the Department of Education to make a certain number of site visits to private schools that participate in state scholarship programs. Slide 3 Three schools serving McKay Scholarship students are randomly selected for site visits each year. Seven schools with Florida Tax Credit students must be visited, and statute allows the department to select additional schools that meet certain guidelines. If your school is selected for a site visit, you will receive a notification letter and checklist approximately two weeks prior to the visit. The Site Visit Checklist includes specific items that will be reviewed on the day of the visit. Slide 4 Items to be reviewed fall in three categories: Student Records, which includes Attendance, Health Records, and Academic Progress Reports; Staff Records, which includes criminal and employment history screenings and teacher qualifications; and Facility Records such as Health, Radon, and Fire inspections. Information on all three compliance areas is available on our website. To ensure a successful site visit, make sure all documentation has been organized and made readily available for the reviewers upon their arrival. Slide 5 On the day of the site visit: Make sure the school administrator (s) is available to meet with DOE Staff before and after the review. Have all files and documentation readily available. If possible, have a separate room available for reviewers. Slide 6 After the visit, your school will receive a Site Visit Report, indicating any missing or incomplete items. Your school will be given an additional 10 days to submit the requested documents. If the documentation is not submitted within by the deadline, a notice of noncompliance will be issued. Failure to provide evidence of compliance with scholarship requirements within 30 days of the notice may affect your school’s eligibility to participate in state scholarship programs.
